Case Study: Mackintosh Community Garden

Thanks to support from CLAS Cymru, the neglected and overgrown community garden at the Mackintosh Sports Centre in Cardiff is now a thriving community hub with an emphasis on activities for children. The group aims to provide a space the whole community can enjoy and to provide an inner city wildlife haven.

CLAS Cymru recruiting for new Advisor

CLAS Cymru is recruiting for a Community Land Advisor, located in either Cardiff or Bangor.

Hours: 18.75 hours (2.5 days) per week, to include Tuesdays

Salary: FCFCG Grade F, £29,033 (pro rata) per annum starting salary, rising to £31,288 pro rata.

Welsh Allotment & Community Garden Guidance published 2016

The Community Land Advisory Service in Wales (CLAS Cymru) has been instrumental in helping produce a Welsh Government document offering advice on allotments and community growing in Wales.

CLAS Services 2017 Update

Updated June 2018. The Community Land Advisory Service (CLAS) currently operates with part-time staff in Scotland and Wales, until at least 2018. Funding for a post in England ended in 2016, but website resources for England (as well as Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland), are still available.

CLAS Cymru and Cae Tan on Big Lottery Blog

A case Study on the Big Lottery Fund Wales blog highlights the help and support given by the Community Land Advisory Service at Cae Tan, a community supported agriculture site on the Gower in Wales. The site was unfenced and unused for 30 years, but has become a thriving hub of community activity including a shared sheep flock, fruit share scheme and a major programme of tree planting.
