This event is an opportunity to learn about land reforms in Scotland as Calum Macleod from Community Land Scotland visits Wales to tell us about the communities now benefitting from owning and managing their own land.

Calum Macleod, funded by the Carnegie UK Trust, will share Community Land Scotland experiences of new community land rights across Scotland. We will hear case studies of community land owners and managers who are benefitting from the land ownership changes north of the English Border. There will also be an insightful walking tour by Incredible Edible Wrecsam, of the food growing projects at our event venue -  the Wrexham Glyndwr University Grounds. There will be a free lunch and then an opportunity to discuss how such changes could be applied in Wales:

  • What are the barriers and potential benefits?
  • Is there an appetite for more community land ownership and management in Wales?
  • What support for communities and landowners might be needed going forward in Wales?

This event is for community groups, practitioners and local authorities embarking on the transfer of land for community use. Also, those engaged in the development of policy and guidance on community ownership and management of land will be interested to attend.
